We looked at several condo units at the gated community at bay terrace when we decided to move to qns. The condos are nice but the public transportation or traffic to get things done was a big turn off. I understand that you are retired and have nothing else to kill but time so that is probably not an issue.

I have been to both the. Poconos and your beloved bay terrace in the outskirts of qns... glad that you prefer bt. But if I were to choose, the poconos will win. Why would I spend more money on a tiny apartment to endure constant noise and air pollution and traffic jams while not getting the real conveniences of living in nyc...

Does that make sense? Disagreement is allowed here...
it sure does make sense .. we spend very little time at home , a two bedroom 2 bath apartment suit our needs fine . in fact if i bought a co-op i would buy the samething .. the problem with the poconos is it lacks pretty much everything you might need as you age .

there are few real good medical facilities .. there are few specialists ..

if i couldn't drive there is no public transportation

the area requires a drive for everything

once you do things locally the area gets boring with the same old same old stuff to do . we were bored by the 4th year .

winters are long and hard with nothing to do once you are beyond skiiing .

if i wanted to work a little bit there are only low wage business's around . i work one day a week here and make more than 3 days pay there . the cost of living is only about 1/3 less while pay was less then half .

it is a great place for a second home but it can lack far to much as you reach retirement age .. everything we would need or want we already have right here.

we never get bored here ... we lost interest in the poconos by the 4th year part time. here we have all the benefits of being in manhattan in 30 minutes on the lirr without city congestion , noise and cost
