Hamilton was filmed on stage though - I think that's what was meant.
I didn't know that. But I'm still skeptical. I remember seeing Passing Strange, which was filmed on stage, by Spike Lee no less. And in that format it died like a dog, while the stage show seen live was fantastic.
But I will add the one other big Broadway musical I forgot about that was a very good movie: Chicago.
Yes, the Hamilton movie is a live capture done of two performances featuring the original cast. I think it's the type of thing that you really need to view in a theater, not on a TV at home. I saw the London production of Follies on a movie screen at BAM and enjoyed it very much.
I don't like seeing shows a second time. A late friend saw PHANTOM 12 times and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC 5 times. I find that kind of behavior bizarre, a bit too obsessive-compulsive.
Since seeing shows has always been a luxury for me, I have never seen the same live show twice. Even movies I only pay to see once although several movies I have seen more than once because they have later on aired on TV (for free without a cable subscription).
Too often, stage musicals usually come off badly on film, so I doubt I'll go to see a Hamilton movie.
The Sweeney Todd movie was a disaster, as were the film versions of A Little Night Music, Chorus Line, Jesus Christ Superstar and Mamma Mia. Hair and Rent just barely passed muster, and both were far less exciting than they should have been. IMO, Les Miserables, Into the Woods, and Hairspray are the only big recent Broadway to Hollywood transfers I can think of that seem really good.
I think “The Producers” transfer to a movie was well done!
I will see Hamilton the Movie because I saw the TENTH cast on stage, and would like to see the First cast. But I might wait until Netflix gets it. I am a patient man.

PRODUCERS wqas a conversion from a comic movie to a brilliant musical by the same genius. Not quite the same as a musical transfer from Broadway tio the movies.
Yes, CHICAGO was probably the best example how it should be done, or WEST SIDE STORY or THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
