For a limited time they have some interesting memorabilia of his on display. The exhibit is located at the New York Public Library flagship location, the Schwartzman Building, on 42nd Street. It features some of his personal items like tobacco pipes, reading glasses, and a typewriter. Lots of original writings and letters written. There are original manuscripts from the making of The Catcher in the Rye.

It is a good glimpse into the past. Back when everything was still printed onto paper!

I'm not generally that interested in memorabilia, but I like that this is getting so much press.

I did not spend much time viewing the items but appreciate it none the less. I liked the typed manuscripts. Looking at them, with todays NYC pace and with smartphone brain, the papers felt really slow. For me I sensed that slow and old pace of life. I may be envious of the slow and easier world back then. I think he did most of his work in remote New England and not NYC but I saw numerous correspondences and Western Unions to and from NYC.
