I was looking for perceptions of New Yorkers . . . the City is very expensive, so I was wondering how poor people would be able to afford still living there.

Its not expensive if you're poor, only expensive if you make just enough to not qualify for all of the benefits, but not enough to be rich.

Are you living in a bubble or what? They live off of handouts aka programs. All you have to do is step outside and see all of the homeless people begging and so on.

Yes. I live in a bubble. When I visited Manhattan I didn't see any homeless people at all - I asked about it and was told they are all in shelters, "elsewhere."
