that's how I would travel if I were you.

She already ruled out trains, plus Amtrak fares are ridiculous.
I really want to support a national railroad, but Amtrak's high fares makes it difficult.

I wasn't telling she should take a train, just letting her know what the option is for people who have alot of luggage.

If you prefer the bus, you have lots of info, but if you'd prefer to consider the rail--more expensive, but possibly faster and a more enjoyable trip, you can send your suitcases either by bus or rail separately. My daughter has done this on more than one occasion, and sending the cases separately saves you all the hassle of travel. You'd have to phone up all the recommended carriers to see how their services work and what it would cost.
Enjoy Philadelphia; a nice city to attend school.

Thank you for all the info, everyone.
I definitely plan on making many trips to NYC while in Philly...
so all of this is useful to me.
Thanks again!

I second the mention for Bolt Bus. Make sure that you buy/reserve your ticket ahead of time, they get booked up very quickly.
I would love to support amtrak too but after living overseas and using a system like the ICE I just can't. It would be great if Amtrak offered service like that but I doubt it would ever happen (and i'm not talking about acela!).
