School registration in Riverdale, NY (transfer, private school, moving to)

Hi all,
We are moving to Riverdale, NY this summer from Europe. our son goes to a private school here and we'd like to get him into one of the 3 in Riverdale. The admissions office closes and what can we do? Also, which school is better for a multi-lingual, bright boy, PS 81 or PS 24? Thanks for your advice

I would suggest that you send your child to private school, neither school is particularly that great,if your looking for your son to keep up with his multi language neither are equiped, and for junior high I might suggest 141......and of course there is always Bronx School of Science for high school.

I might suggest that you try and get ahold of whatever school you choose and see if you can do the paperwork through fax before the end of the school year. I'm sure if you call the school they can tell you how to handle the whole process.

Both are decent schools, esp. compared with the rest of the Bronx, so don't worry.

We´re also a family from Europe, who´s prob going to stay in Riverdale. Just curious as regards admission, which school did you end up with and are you content with it?

Get a local newspaper and read about the overcrowding in Riverdale and other schools in the Bronx, one kid started school in one school and then was transferred out to another, he nor his parents had any say in the transfer, plus it was further away from home.

Local paper is the Riverdale Press you can read it online.
