Default Lower East Side Safe at Night?

My boyfriend and I are going to be going to New York City on vacation for the first time in May. Im wondering If the Lower East Side is safe at night and early morning because there were a couple lounges/clubs that seemed interesting to check out, one being Le Caire Lounge, has anyone been there? or have any suggestions of other clubs to check out, keeping in mind im 20, and my bf is 21. We will be staying in the Residence Inn near 6th and 38th.

As long as you stay away from the projects close to the East River, you'll be fine. There are TONS TONS TONS of people out in the East Village/ Lower East Side at night, probably more than anywhere else in the city after midnight; you will not feel even remotely unsafe.

I just looked up the place you're interested in, and there's nothing to worry about as far as the location (as a rule of thumb, stay west of Ave D if you're really concerned about safety). As for how good the place is, I'm clueless.

East Village? Awesome. Very trendy, lots of bars/lounges to hang out in. You'll love it!
Trust me I lived in NYC for 26 years (all my life!) I just move to DC and believe me .... I would rather be back to my home
NYC for life

As the others said it is CROWDED on the weekend nights. No danger whatsoever. The only problem you may encounter is getting into places since many are 21 and over and most places around there card.
