Guy, Stay on Topic! This thread is about the Sean Bell Trial, not you.

When calling 911 the police aren't always the one to respond. There are paramedics and firefighters. And by me taking matters in my own hands, that would be illegal, because self defensive will only take one so far, before it turns into assault or murder.

Has anyone ever heard of the CCRB? That is an independent civilian complaint review board. Grand jurys convene all the time to determine whether or not cops are liable for shootings and whether or not there are criminal proceedings. DA has its own investigators. Sean Bell was a criminal trial; therefore, DA would have investigated.
People are taking assumptions and just flying with them. Last edited by iluvmycuties; 05-08-2008 at 06:14 PM. |

BB,
I quote you as saying "There is more abuse of power and corruption in the police force, than there is actual good. " I would think that someone with this mindset would call 911 as a last resort for help. Paramedics and firefighters don't handle robberies, shootings, stabbings, rapes and whatever else you can think of. Paramedics will get you to the hospital after you have been victimized. |

From what I've seen, and heard, I believe there is some type of cover up by poilce, I'm not saying that Bell was an angel, but did he really need to die ! It seems to me that if you're an urban black person you're somewhat expendable in the eyes of law enforcement. My ex is law enforcement (for 25 years) and according to him, cops are just as corrupt as anyone else out there, and they definitely do practice racial profiling. The only difference is that they know how to manipulate the law in their favor when need be. And in this case, it looks like it worked perfectly.

Two of the cops were black! One was Lebanese, I believe? I don't know about anyone else, but if someone is trying to run me over, I'm going to shoot them before I get taken out. Then again, that would be a racial issue too, right? Defending your life? How do YOU suggest they manipulated the law? It is a great and dramatic statement (kudos). But please give specifics, since you seem to know all about police training, investigations, AND you seemed to have been there that night. Sleeping with a law enforcement official (was he a PO or corrections?) doesn't make you a police officer, grand jury, district attorney, or judge. How did they manipulate the law? |

Not ALL cops are corrupt. Not ALL cops practice racial profiling. With regard to racial profiling, I think that any perpetrator who has been arrested by a cop of any other ethnic descent, considers it racial profiling.

BB,
Simply put, you would call 911 b/c those are the people that will help you. I can't speak for anyone else, but I can tell you that my husband has been shot at, stabbed with icepicks and hyperdermic needles, spit at and called every profanity in the book and continues to march on to protect you from harm. So like I said before, just alittle RESPECT, that's all I'm asking. |
