Has Sharpton spoken on the case yet? That man's going to have some harsh words for everybody who's not a "brotha" living in a big inner-city.

Unfortunately this was a terrible ACCIDENT that happened. It was up to the prosecution to put the burden of proof that these cops intended on committing a crime against these men. No Judge will ever convict police who fire when they believe their lives are in danger. This is not the movies things happen in the blink of an eye. Noone can fire a shot into someones thigh to wound them or shoot a gun out of somones hand. Split second your life or theirs I think everyone if put in the same posistion would have done the same. The enviroment that was the shooting added to the volatile situation. It raised the stress level of both cops and civilians on the scene. With all those ingrediants it caused a terrible outcome.

well said...however,
I still believe that their behavior was reckless...there was no weapon at the scene. Too many unarmed civilians get killed by officers who overreact.

The civil trial will be interesting. The Prosecution will only have to prove that the police violated the mens civil rights. I expect a significant cash award settlement, but no jailtime. This was done years back when PO Anthony Livoti was cleared of criminal charges in the choking death of Anthony Baez. He was later convicted on violating Baez's civil rights and sentenced to seven years. Baez family was also awarded a cash settlement. Baez was put in a chokehold with a baton and killed after a football hit livotis car and baez mouthed off. The difference in the case is Baez was resisting arrest, and the jury concluded Livoti's life was never in danger when he killed him.

If John White truly believed his family was in danger then he had every right to do what he did. Only God and John White know what he was truly thinking when he pulled the trigger.
