I had forgotten that...ahh, Karma.

Well, being hit by a car is a plausible karma for jaywalking on an 8-lane boulevard in LA, for anyone of any political persuasion; it doesn't prove anything either way :-).

A prophetic political moment occurred at Woodstock when stoned Abby Hoffman climbed on the stage in the middle of The Who set, and started giving a political speech, whereupon Pete Townshend smacked Abby on the head with the guitar, because the band wanted to effin' play their alotted set :-).

Boomers who were very liberal at that time tend to look bemusedly at the naive beliefs of their youth :-). I myself was more liberal than now (though never extremely liberal - I grew in a moderately-communist country, and always knew that private enterprise was the only enterprise, and communist rhetoric was garbage), but when I came to the US in 1983, I still thought that the "poor and oppressed" should be fairly given "better opportunities". But then I met a lot of these "poor and oppressed" Americans, and saw that they were given huge opportunities, but they by and large preferred to ignore all of those opportunities except straight handouts, and preferred to continue being forever obsessed with "oppression" that had ceased to exist long ago.

Reagan himself lived to be, what, 94 or so? Not a very bad karma (or at least not a particularly foreshortened one :-).

Most of the crap they get today is petty (killing Applebees and enjoying Avocado toast, Oh, no!) and/or misplaced (actually regarding something associated with the younger generation after them, Gen Z).

It's no wonder Millennials have a bit of a chip on their shoulders.

Response: makes up for all those soft under belly college years.

Yea, they entered into a pretty terrible job market due to the recession and that was after having a college education being far more necessary for most decently earning jobs than for previous generations while at the same time having to contend with much more expensive college tuitions and housing expenses. The couple of generations before had an easier time financially.

Baby boomers Deplete all of the resources of most of the countries on the planet in a single generation, leaving absolutely nothing for future generations, pollute the planet to the point where some areas will become unable to support life and leave the clanup to future generations.

Export all of the industry and farming work overseas for short-term profit, destroying future generations’ chances of finding work and having a stable economy.

Destroy the educational and academic institutions in innumerable social and political experiments that cripple at least two generations.

Promote the kind of banking and economics that have put the most powerful country on Earth into the most debt ever seen in human history and cause massive economic recessions that affect the entire world.

Finally, create a social institution that redistributes wealth to your generation from your own children in outrageous retirement and pension funds designed to allow you to live in luxury and comfort while the world you have ruined melts down around you.

Talk about it in another section for starters since this last post of theirs takes it out of the realm of a local NYC topic.
