Like it or hate it,the following is only my opinion:

At approximately 10:30 this morning a phone in caller asked the mayor of New York City
why the Government was going in one direction and New York in the other as far as returning
the city to normal concerning the Corona Virus.

His response was initially that he had no direction from the government and what is
being done is dangerous as far as other States are concerned. He mentioned Virginia.

By now everyone understands the dangers of the virus and means of transmission.
Having family in Virginia and living in New York I can tell you they are both worlds apart
as far as quality of life for a number of reasons but that is a another topic of discussion.

The mayor could have easily answered the question .
With over 8 million people in New York City comprises over 40% of
the New York States' population of 20 million people. That's a lot of people
in such a small space.

With less than 500 square miles of New York City land not including livable space
for 8 million that might as well be equivalent to living in a can alongside sardines.

Virginia with the similar population as that of New York City ( not the state )
has almost 43,000 square miles of land. That is 43,000 more times than New York City.

Returning to business as usual for a Virginian is no comparison to returning to work as
a New Yorker. Less risk of exposure for Virginians. Much greater risk for New Yorkers.

I was of belief since the early 90's that New York was over populated.
I am also of opinion the New York is now succumbing to the similar results as that
of Tryon's Rat Experiment of 1940 and John Calhoun's Behavioral Sink experiment
from 1958-1962.

The more people are cramped together the greater the dangers and therefore the more
quarantined New Yorkers will remain because of the virus.

The answer is to curb the New York City population, not quite feasible, or suffer the consequences.
The results of those experiments from this point on and forward into the future look grim at best.

What is your opinion?
Curious minds would like to know................

I would hope so consider how dense the city is. One wrong move, we will be heading back where we began with.

Yes, mainly because Cuomo likes the attention the crisis has been getting him.

Remember flattening the curve doesn't mean reducing the area under it. Unless the medical researchers pull a vaccine rabbit out of their hat and get it into use, the pandemic won't be over until enough people get it for the population to develop herd immunity.

And the purpose of flattening the curve was to reduce the overload on the medical system to ensure treatment, especially ICU/ventilator capacity. But 80% of people who go on ventilators die, so is that a great management option.

We just need to take the hit and get this over with.

Look you can't have it both ways

Crime plummeted and that, combined with the dot-com era, is what made so many transplants come here

Now there's too much people and too much crime for you

Humans, I tell ya

This is easy. Strictly enforce housing occupancy limits. Look at the zip codes where the highest case density is. Look at neighborhoods where there have been perennial complaints about houses and apartments being chopped up and stuffed with people as illegal flop houses. Break those up.

Most likely unfortunately.

Here in PA our Governor already stated that Philadelphia will be the last place in the state to reopen.

How about Seattle? Gov Inslee cannot even decide on a date for this to end. For the past few weeks he's been stating that the lockdown will last past May 4th and that WA state will open with CA and OR. Problem is their governors cannot decide on dates either.

8,000,000 people put out a lot of germs. Some are hazardous to people's health.

With so few square miles, public transportation i.e. subways are required. They're not properly maintained and downright filthy. They're just one big petri dish to grow more germs.

New Yorkers live in such dismal and tiny apartments. They're out and close to each other in social gatherings more often than other places. They can expect to receive so many more germs in close proximity to each other.

And until certain virus are eradicated, NYC could be a very dangerous place to go.
