Hello Everyone,

I have a couple of addresses and wanted to get everyone's input on the neighborhoods. I also plan to go visit them when I come to visit New York next week.

610 Waring Ave Bronx, NY 10467
2049 Mc Graw Ave Bronx, NY 10466
2080 Barnes Ave Bronx, NY 10462
2228 Adams Pl Bronx, NY 10458
2903-05 Valentine Ave Bronx, NY 10457

Thanks in advance for all of the help.

The Barnes Ave. one is in Pelham Parkway, where I live. It's not a bad area, rather quiet on the whole. I've been here for almost a year now and have experienced zero problems. All kinds of people live here (mostly Hispanic), and there's a big Albanian population, so it has a little bit of an Eastern European feel to it. White Plains Rd. can be rather spooky late at night when all the shops are closed, but during the day I feel perfectly safe there.

610 Waring--off White Plains Rd between Allerton and Pelham Pkwy, not bad, not great, lots of Albanians, probably sketchy at night

McGraw Ave- Pk'chester area, see those posts, there's plenty of them

2228 Adams Pl--somewhere near 183rd and 3rd, Fordham area, probably not so great

2905 Valentine is at Bedford Pk Blvd, a sketchy street in an area that is declining but not too bad.

Based on the addresses provided the Valentine zip should be 10458, the McGraw 10462

Why do you say it's declining?

it's declining from what I've seen here on the board and while Bainbridge Avenue between 200th-Mosholu Pkwy still looks OK, it doesn't look as clean as it used to. Valentine Ave tends to appear more run down than the adjoining avenues around Bedford Pk. Other streets like 201 street still look like they're very well maintained

I personally think it'a a pleasant area but it doesn't appear as it used to be

From what I understand, the major change has been the demographics. It's still a well maintained area. Crime I think is lower than when it was Irish. It's unfortunate that some see the demographic change as a "decline".

Some of those blocks are really nice. Great art deco. The parking situation looks nasty though. 201 street and Marion, Perry, Bainbridge all really squeaky clean.

Rlrl, could you tell me which address that I posted corresponds to your statement? I am not familiar with all the street names and get confused. Thanks.

So for a single female which area between McGraw, Valentine and Barnes would you think is best? The Pelham Parkway Station is 6 blocks from the Barnes address. For the McGraw address I would have to take the 6 to Parkchester and then a bus to McGraw. I think the ad said that the B & R train was 2 blocks from the Valentine location. However, I tried to find the R train close to Bedford Park and couldn't. I am a black female, so I don't know if that matters. I have read a lot of posts conerning single, white females. I don't know if it is different for a single, black female. Also my job will be at 198 East 161st Street. Thanks for all of the help.
