Good move. NYPD officers shouldn't be spending their time pulling people over unless they're an immediate risk to life and safety. Let the red light/speed cameras do the job.
As far as the schools are concerned, they should train guidance counselors and even some students who volunteer to work as mediators/conflict resolvers. Maybe if people learned young how to mediate disputes they would be more mature adults.

Traffic are the guys who write parking tickets. They would still do the same job just a different uniform under DOT instead of NYPD
As far as schools, good luck with 20 year old high school seniors bringing weapons to school and trying "diffuse" the situation with trained teachers.
They actually did what needs to be done instead of some of the nonsense thats being suggested. They fired the entire police force and started over and remade it because corruption was so out of control noone was safe on the streets. The trained an entire new police force and fixed the problems. Nonsense about disbanding the police in favor of community counselors instead is not going to fix the problems. Additionally there are only like 75k people in camden and there are 8.4 million people in NYC and it would be impossible to recreate what happened in Camden.
Crime only decreased because the police were allowing the crime and the new police arent.
I thought they only wore NYPD uniforms because they were getting attacked by people?
They also changed the car color, now it's the same paint scheme as a real police car instead of dark blue. The only way you can tell now is the "traffic" wording in the blue stripe
What I'll never understand is what the hell is an auxiliary police officer. They wear uniforms, get no pay, and can't protect themselves or basically do anything

some people are just law enforcement buffs. I wouldn't do it either...they give up a few weekends a month and get paid nothing. The only advantage that I know of is that if they decide to become a full fledged officer, once they complete the academy, they try to accomadate them by placing them in a precinct of their preference, where everyone else is placed whereever the department wants.

My friend was one, if you're going into a career in LE its cool for you to do
It's equivalent to an internship in your senior year of college
