Default Williamsbridge section of the Bronx

Anybody have knowledge of this area? More specifically how is it crimewise and what are the major causes of crime in the area? Thanks.

That is towards to Wakefield. White Plains Rd is bad in the 200's. Gun Hill Rd is rough. Edenwald and Baychester? pj's, Edenwald is known to be real bad. Towards Baychester its a bit better but there are a lot of black outs because people try to steal the copper. Overall, it's a bad area

Agreed.

Crazy Jamaicans on WPR. Lots of gun violence.

^ pretty much on point. I grew up in Wakefield so I know this first hand. I used to avoid the 225th Street Station like the plague and ALWAYS went to 233rd.

I noticed that a new public high school is opening on 228/Bronxwood, which can't be good with the Edenwald PJ's just 2 blocks away at Laconia. My mother wouldn't let me go to Cardinal Spellman HS b/c of Edenwald.

I don't really miss my old neighborhood much.

The 47th precinct (north east Bronx) IMO is underrated. It's bad but nobody really groups it with the south Bronx precincts. Yet, if you look at stats it drops 20+ bodies a year. This year I think it's on top with 8. Though alot of the murders may occur in the projects. I am always around 227th and Bronxwood and the neighborhood is quiet. Lot's of houses and in no way compares to my hood on 183rd.

BUT, White Plains Road in the 200's is as bad as ANYTHING the south Bronx has to offer.

Edenwald is as bad as any south Bronx projects.

Imagine if the rest of the neighborhood was bad, 40+ murders yearly.

Very underrated hood. Similar IMO (besides demographics) to Soundview. Crime occurs in certain areas but those areas are wild. Lots of houses in both places as well as projects. Only difference is that Soundview has a few more tenements/buildings.

So just to clarify..is the overall opinion that the entire Williamsbridge section is bad? I am white and recently moved to Willet/ 213 street and it doesn't seem to be "bad". I have noticed a mixed population on my block and so far I feel safe to let my children out to play. I agree however that WPR is rough but isn't it true that if you mind your business you should be ok?

I was wondering the same thing. And by Williamsbridge what do you mean? Because Williamsbridge/ Norwood is still considered good but Williamsbridge/Wakefield is ****. But I don't know it that well. The guy above says he moved in there recently. Im white myself but I tend to stick to areas like Morris Park. Haven;t ventured that far north in a long time. But what is Williamsbridge like demographically speaking?

It's easily the blackest neighborhood in the Bronx. Lots of Jamaicans and West African immigrants.

supermario you mean any south bronx project is as bad as edenwald..95% of the south bronx projects is not seeing edenwald crime wise..not bragging making it clear. like i said on another website dedicated for the hood 47th precinct section is the worst area of the bronx aside from the 43rd.this website lacks more hood people who can actually speak for different hood from personally experiences & not from driving by a hood & judging it as good or bad because its trash on the floor or graffitti on the wall. or googling information about neighborhoods(like 90% of the heads on here do).i should be getting paid to drop the information i drop on here.south bronx projects 90% ive been threw on foot at night or lived in & trust my word they not built like that.northeast hoods dont get alotta publicity because 1-its no reason for people to be up here if they dont have family or friends in the area.2-lack of transportation.3- aint no yankee stadium or bronx zoo up here.if you dont know nobody you shouldnt be in the area.point blank

northeast is rough man. i'm telling you its a certain vibe over there that u know u in the ghetto even though its just houses. i would say thats definitely one of the worst parts of the bronx. nobody even brings up the valley! i heard some stories about baychester too man back in the day i heard u couldnt even get off on the 5 at baychester it was that bad. my pops used to get his car fixed in edenwald and he used to bring me wit him.....edenwald by far one of the worst projects i've ever stepped foot in and i've been in brownsville 2 AM but i would not go in edenwald at that time. baychester, schiefflien, eastchester i wont mess with any of em. secor i dont know 2 much about so i wont speak on it but the rest 4get em!
