Default Reverse commute - NYC to Hackensack

Looking for a safe decent neighborhood in Manhattan with easy access to Port Authority terminal for bus to Hackensack and back during the day. Can spend up to $1300 for studio or 1 bedroom.

Just curious, couldn't you also look for places up in Washington Heights? There are buses from Washington Heights to NJ too.

yeah, i second ciao9999. You could get a pretty solid studio or even decent 1-BR in Washington Heights/Hudson Heights that's walking distance to the GWB Bus Terminal. Port Authority is a longer commute and your choices of apartments for $1300 would border on either really small, bad building, or with roommates.
