Bronx neighborhood help
Another area that I frequently visit in the Bronx is the Freeman street stop on the 2 train. The intersection is Southern Blvd and Freeman when you leave the train. I go up a block to Hoe avenue. What neighborhood is this?
Morrisania? West Farms? Hunts Point?
Anybody know?

Thanks guys.
Wikipedia has the area as East Morrisania or Crotona Park east. But Most people would probably consider it Longwood. I never knew that in that neighborhood was the infamous charlotte street. Or that Ft Apache: The Bronx was filmed there.
That area is really different than my stomping grounds in the west Bronx. It's much less dense. More private homes.

Interesting topic. What neighborhood is the 160s west of Grand Concourse near Yankee Stadium considered? They refer to it on wikipedia as "Concourse" (I would imagine due to Concourse Village". According to a 1940s map, the neighborhood is called Inwood, but damned if I know anyone who refers to it as such. The zipcode (10456) is considered "Morrisania" and to add confusion, on 161 St. you have a building labelled the Melrose Building, yet others named after Morrisania.
Where do I actually live???

That's considered Highbridge. Some people call it south Bronx, West Bronx, Concourse.,...but it's Highbridge.
Bronx neighborhood boundaries are sketchy. People just form their own. Some areas like the one I named above and the area from Fordham rd to Kingsbridge rd west of Jerome have no name. They instead get grouped with the nearest neighborhood.

Sha83,
Just curious, how do you like the area? (Highbridge) What would you say are the pros and cons?

Dude that is soooooo not Longwood..that is Morrisania 100%. Longwood refers to a very specific area of Hunts Point that encompasses the beautiful brownstones. It became Longwood as a way to seperate itself from the Hunts Point image....Longwood proper is from the Bruckner to the 2/5 train station Prospect ave...it goes not further than Intervale..everything West (the other side of the train) is Morrisania....
