Have New Yorkers EVER considered NEW ORLEANS?
When I lived in NYC, many people (if there to leave) really only seemed to consider two places. Either MIAMI or SAN FRANCISCO. One for the weather and one for what was perceived to be most similar to NYC but on the other coast.
How about NEW ORLEANS? I never once heard anyone in NYC consider New Orleans. Post-Katrina isnt the best time. But its very condensed and walkable and I think literary and oozing with culture.

Every time I've been to New Orleans it's left one impression on me: it's one HUGE slum. Been there, and, thank you, but...no.

Yes. I've considered it someplace I'd never want to go . . .

I've considered it for vacations. I think I would like the architecture, the dining options, and music from NO, but as for living, I would rather not. There's still some very serious infrastructure issues there, and there is a huge crime problem (pre and post Katrina) to boot. But to visit, I would love to.
