Looking for a place in the city (New York, York: apartment, insurance)

I'm looking for a place in the city to live. Hopefully I can live in an ok area with 2 pitbulls (hopefully)
1. about 1000-1200 sq ft 2 Bedroom
2. Around $4000 rent..utilities included if possible
3. Safe..mixed neighborhood
4. Supermarket close by
5. Dog friendly..Allows 2 pitbulls

is this possible? if not, how much would I be looking to pay for a 1000-1200 sq ft in manhattan?

With that kind of money Wash Hi (washington heights) would let you save money

It is a great place below the hospital, and above 155th St, and west of amsterdam

It is close to the subway, laundry, dry cleaners, nice restaurants, and the place is still cheap

The biggest upside though is the rooms, THEY ARE HUGE, AND A STEAL FOR THE LOW PRICE.

But for the $4000 you could probably do UES, UWS, or anywhere south of 96th St, but you wont be saving money for the future

Four thousand dollars, these days, will get you a 2BR, but not necessarily in a highly desirable area such as the UWS. You'll also pay more, generally, for a building that permits dogs. I was shocked when an acquaintance recently decided to move and I heard the rents for a ONE BR apartment. 1000 is VERY big for a 1BR apartment...

I think your best bet, in Manhattan, really would be Washington Heights. And above the hospital, West of Broadway, isn't bad, either! The advantage is that 168th St. is a stop for the A AND the Broadway lines.

how much would u say it would be for the lower part of manhattan for a 2BR around 1000-1200? around union square? and if not there I was thinking about williamsburg, brooklyn..but i really wanna be in the city/around ppl my age (im 21) so I don't know what to do..

I am sorry but I think pitbulls are not allowed in NYC.
This is what I found.
Eventually the Board of Health adopted regulations requiring that all pit bulls in the city be tattooed, photographed and registered and that their owners carry $100,000 in liability insurance. No new pit bulls were to be allowed in New York City after Oct. 1, 1989.

I've lived in the city from 1999-2005 so that cant be true.. where did you find that?

When the registration procedures go into effect, unregistered pit bulls can be seized under the rules, which also provide for fines up to $500 a day for each violation.

That article is from 1989 - almost 20 years ago!!

you mean if a law is 20 years old it doesnt exist??
Now maybe they have change the law...
But just because a law is old that doesnt mean is not in effect

I said the article is 20 years old. That's not a good source to see if a law is up to date. Laws are changed all the time as lawmakers move in and out of office, as public opinion changes and as new research is available.

The law is not in effect any more. A google search will show you that the law was repealed about one year after it went into effect.
