Default Quality/Dependable Contractors

First time posting here but have been lurking for quite a while.

Anyway we are looking to renovate our new apt that we are buying in Kew Gardens queens and we are having a hard time finding anyone that will recommend their contractors. (seems they are in the same catagory with auto mechanics).

Anyone have any good recommendations on one or where I could look?

Thanks

Z

Try the Franklin Report - I've used them and their reviews are spot on.

You're right - it's tough.

First, workers will travel from Brooklyn to Queens, so that's not an issue.

If you're renovating your whole apartment, presumably that will include a kitchen or bathroom. When you're shopping for fixtures, force the stores to recommend a few contractors. (By the way, I bought my bathroom fixtures at Smolka, if that's any help.)

Also, I haven't tried Angie's List myself yet, but that seems to be growing in popularity.
