Hello all ~

I am visiting in October (probably) with a group of girl scouts - I think it would be best to stay in times square if possible - need some advice from you guys...

hotel with pool???? I know its hard, but if it rains I need something for the kids to do - hotel QT - every heard of it???? reviews etc etc??

also - ideas on tours that can accomadate 10-20 ppl? Those buses are great that stop along the way, but if they are full, then they cant take everyone on at every stop

I would appreciate any comments / suggestions...

thanks
colleen

my only suggestions would be to break into 2 groups of 10, check ahead of time to see if the attractions you want to visit offer group rates and maybe special group activities. for rainy days, skip the pool and take the kids to a museum like the natural history which has a planetarium, the metropolitan museum of art or the museum of modern art, all will have a lot to interest the kids

There is SO MUCH to do on rainy days! As stated above, we have a gazillion wonderful museums. Some, like the Museum of the City of New York, have exhibits meant expressly for children. The Museum of the City of New York has a beautiful toy collection and, since you've got Girl Scouts - there's an amazing display of antique doll houses.

And don't forget the theater! TKTS in Duffy Square has cut rate tickets that are available the day of performance.

It's not just outdoors in NYC!

WOW - great great ideas!!! yes we will be seeing a show and lots more, i just thought that when we get back to the hotel in the evening, the kids would like to "hang" out together in the pool - the one thing I hesitate on with the QT is that the pool is in the bar area from my reading - Of course, not a problem for the adults, a cocktail would be nice, however, I really dont think its appropriate for 10 year olds to be in a bar setting, a family bar if there is one, is fine, but if its a nightclub, then maybe not.

First thing I have to do is set up the transportation and hotel, after that - I will work on where to go - of course statue of liberty, empire state, zoo, theatre, toys are us, and any recs on museums are a bonus - thanks..... please keep the ideas coming.......

The hotel thing is daunting to say the least

I have not been to the Hotel QT, but I've heard that it is very "hip" and probably not good for kids. My parents stayed at the DoubleTree guest suites and the larger rooms would be good for a sleepover-type atmosphere.
