Actually Mexicans don't have the greatest attitude towards education. Although I've heard from Mexicans themselves that the ones that immigrate to NYC tend to place a higher emphasis on education. It's definitely an area where they could improve (BTW to clarify, I think the Latino community could use improvement as a whole in this department). From my experience they (Mexicans) tend to place work and family way above it. You will often still see 2nd generation Mexicans still getting married and having kids very young, and not finishing high school let alone college. It often takes at least until the third generation for the kids to go to college. I think its why they lag behind other Latinos in college numbers despite being here for a longer time.

Well i don't think that PRs in Florida hate the actual nuyoricans themselves as individuals, I believe that they hate the negative image they place on the rest of Puerto Ricans.

I find that people pretty much stick with their own, though they will often live around each other in the same neighborhood and buildings. Dominicans and Puerto Ricans regularly complain about each other but live near each other and interact regularly. Neither interact with Mexicans and sparingly with African-Americans or any other groups for that matter. Because the Spanish Caribbean cultures are so different from the Mexican culture in food, music, styles and looks, they do tend to view Mexicans unfavorably. Many Puerto Ricans resent Mexicans because they really are taking away a lot of jobs as they will work for such little money. Union members get especially pissed at Mexicans and can be vocal about it.

I personally find Mexicans very nice and very hard working people. Never had a problem or negative interaction with one. But I find it somewhat unfortunate that our population is changing so quickly. I think the number of Mexicans has at least quadrupled in the past 10 years. Not saying Mexicans are bad or that I dont like them, but its just a different place than when I was growing up.

Had you been in Appalachia...your complaints would be about whites, and how they are "dirty" or rude, or "so poor" and "never improve themselves generation after generation,"never have teeth" or whatever other experiences you would have if you only knew life in the mountains of west virginia. The same applies if you've only lived in the chinese ghettos of california, where eating such delicacies as "chicken feet", rarely bathing, extremely poor living conditions, spitting constantly, and loud/rude behavior would elicit the same hatred....or in the numerous black ghettos...same rules apply.

I don't fault you for your opinions b/c I recognize that they are a product of never leaving the ghetto. Your attitudes, opinions, and "hatred" is as ghetto as the people you hate so much....but why would we expect anything else from you either...you are from the same ghettos.
Hey! Chicken feet are delicious!

There willingness to take African American sides over fellow hispanics.

That is very true, Puerto Ricans, consider and relate better to African Americans, than other latinos. I know when De La Hoya fought Trinidad, Pr's in el paso, were walking through the mall, screaming and hollering, with their Purto Rican flags. El Paso is like 80% mexican, so obvioulsy that didnt fly. Ive met older Puerto Rican people, and their very nice, pleasant, fun people to hang aroung with, But the young Pr's that ive met, are cocky, loud & brash, and look down, upon everybody, mexicans especially. Thats why personally, i dont agree with the whole "latinos" moniker, mexicans, puerto ricans, dominicans, cubans, are very different people.

Levow.....why would they not be all for Trinidad...he is not only an excellent boxer..he is one of their own. Who cares if they are in El Paso, Beverly Hills, or New Hampshire...they would have done the same thing..irrespective of whomever was around or who Trinidad was fighting..let's be real here. As if Mexicans would not do the same thing? These are the same people who have substantial radical groups who are trying to recolonize the entire US! Lets be real here!

However, I am glad that you made the distinction..the "PR's YOU have met" , the older ones being "nice" and the younger ones being brash. How many have you met to make such a generalization? 2 million? Or more like 10? Point being..I have met MANY Mexicans in NYC..and if I had to generalize I would say they are as dumb as monkeys, need direction on the simplest projects, and are only good for sheetrocking and painting, but otherwise they are "nice" and "don't bother me." Fair assessment? Of course not..but hey..that's been my experience so it must be right.

exactly, thats why i said, "the ones ive met", and i wasnt generalizing, but its been pretty well documented, all across the board, so obvioulsy, im not the only ones that conclude this, thank you! Plus mexicans, dont have a milllion flags all over, yes we are proud, but we do not shove it all over people faces at every chance we get!
