Would like to know how they recession has affected the lives of New Yorkers. Do you spend less? Don't go out as much? Was your raise less than expected? Is it harder to find a job? Is there a greater fear of getting laid off? etc, etc

I Want to move to NY, but am apprehensive because of the US recession. Maybe it would be a better idea for me to wait it out a bit until the economy improves?

Well everything seems to be more expensive now, so I have been extra careful with my spending. I was pretty thrifty to begin with but now it seems like I'm always bargain hunting. When I go food shopping I'm a lot more open to the supermarket brands and the generic stuff than I've been in the past. I also find myself hanging out at home a lot more than I used to. I haven't gone out to see a movie in a really long time. There's a long list of stuff...

But I'm not complaining. It's just an adjustment.
