Some Bronx info....
Hey guys,
Some of you on here seem to know a good bit about the Bronx, and I need some info about the neighborhood in the South Bronx around
Southern Blvd and Tiffany street close to Bruckner blvd.
I know I can search on here, but I am not even sure what the area is called to do a search.
I need to know neighborhood demographics, history, etc.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

The area is Hunts Point...and they are just completing a nice affordable housing building there complete with a susbtantial parking lot too! It also a few blocks from st. Anthanasius, the Southern Blvd shopping district, as well as equidistant from the Longwood and Hunts Point Avenue 6 train stations. The area borders Longwood, a subsection of Hunts Point that has impressive, renovated brownstones..beautiful architecture and wide, tree lined sidewalks....I recommend a stroll if you enjoy the old brownstones as I do.
The area is predominantly Hispanic and Black..with a few , but growing artist community. Hunts Point is the birthplace of the current greening movement in NYC..they are leading the way in tree planting throughout Hunts Point and Mott Haven, have added miles of bike lanes, waterfront parks in the area, and are the first to have green rooves installed.
Recently the Bank Note Building, a giant factory directly across the highway from Tiffany and Southern Blvd in fact, that used to print money, was purchased and is being renovated and repositioned as artist space, lofts, gourmet food market, etc...see the link below:

Lol...is there anything else you would like to add SuperMario? Surely there must be something else about the community that you can discuss.

Thanks for the responses. I know it's a high crime area, I was looking for info other than that, but I should have been more clear. Info a little more along the lines of Guy's post.
