Time to Beach!
It is Summer!
I went to Jones Beach last year with my ex.. which was okay but would like more options. I usually escape to St. Barths or Miami but need some suggestions on local beaches to go to.. Preferably near Hamptons or LI.
No Rockaway or Brighton please..It is ghetto as hell the last time I went.

You can take a train from Penn Station and get to long beach on Long Island. It's pretty nice there, nicer than Rockaway and Brighton. BTW, if you go to the right part of Rockaway it can actually be nice and not crowded at all, but I get your point.

I dont have a car.. so I need something that is train (a few blocks of walking) accessible. Far Rockaways is just a pain..from what I know you have to take a tarin a bus and then a bicycle? (lol ok the last part is not confirmed).

Long Beach.... LIRR Penn to LB is 55 minutes. There is a 4 block walk to the beach. $10 a person to get onto the beach unless you get a multi-pass. Walk a block east or west of Edwards Blvd to get away from the kids/crowds.

I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear, but the western part of Coney Island beach, in the West 20s and 30s right before you come to Sea Gate, is very lightly used. You'd almost think you were on a deserted island!

So what's the deal with Long Beach? $10 each for kids, too? Now that I'll be a few blocks from the LIRR, I was looking forward to maybe going down there, but it sounds a little like Gouge City. What's a multi-pass?

Yeah I've been wanting to go to Long Beach too, but $10 per person sounds excessive.
Honestly if you really want a beach. A real beach. Hop on a 3 hour flight to Punta Cana in DR. White Sand, beautiful water, and perfect weather. The beaches are incredible there. It's worth it.

How would I get there? Is it close to the subway? Or will I have to walk a lot?

Lots of pjs on that stretch of CI. From the shootings that happen in CI and make it on to the news, most of the time the pjs located there are mentioned.
