Best Area of Brooklyn
I am curious to hear what people think is the best area to live in Brooklyn. I am not talking about cheapest or most expensive. I am talking about overall the best bars, restaurants, access to subway, safety?
I feel it comes down to 2 or 3 areas and thats it...

FAR AND AWAY Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill / Carroll Gardens. Though park blocks in Park Slope rival this area, but the Park Slope neighborhood as a whole just doesn't feel as "nice" (ugly sections in western and southern Park Slope). I live near the corner of Atlantic and Court and it is the best of both worlds - gorgeous, tree-lined Brooklyn Heights one block away, with shopping and dining on Montague Street; lively Smith and Court Streets with their bars and restaurant rows a block away down in Cobble Hill. Lots of young people, lots of subway lines running through here, a good commute (NOTHING in Brooklyn beats it for commuting to Manhattan, although the Bedford L in Williamsburg rivals it), and an overall safe and aesthetically pleasing neighborhood.

Considering the OP's criteria, I'd completely agree with you.

Definitely Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Greenpoint. Williamsburg, Park Slope, and Dumbo are the next three I'd recommend.
