Default safe neighborhood to live in the bronx

Hey all,

I would like to gather informations as to part of the bronx is somewhat decent and safe for a young women to move in.

I am looking for a single 1bdr (studio could be fine) to move in. Easy commute to Manhattan but also safe b/c I will be working sometimes late nights. I can afford around 1000-1200 per month.

Thanks

Consider Riverdale in the Northwest Bronx. The 1 goes up there.

Van Cortlandt Village is ideal. The BXM3 express bus takes you down to Midtown, and the 1, 4, and D trains are nearby. Very diverse, very safe and very reasonable (about $850 for a studio and $950-$1000 for a 1 bedroom). Many people in your situaiton have moved to the neighborhood so you'll find friends.
