Default Suggestions on Neighborhoods to fit my needs

I am moving to NYC SOON, I have a two week trip planned in August to look for a job, and search different neighborhoods outside Manhattan since i have come off that cloud and know I can't afford it I know Manhattan VERY well, I do not know much about other neighborhoods in other boroughs.

I know lots of people ask but nobody puts what they are looking for so it is hard for you nyers to give good advice, I do have a few things I am looking for that I need to have

1) I have two SMALL dogs and would like a place to walk them or a possible dog park for them to play (dog park isn't too important but some type of park or green space for them to go potty and yes I clean up after them)

2) I absolutely love the city life and don't really want the suburbs, i live in one now and want out.

3) would obviously like a safe area since i'll have to walk my dogs at night

4) easy access to Manhattan by subway (don't mind walking a short distance to one, but would like to be 30-40 min at the most.

I hope I can find some places so when I come in August I can check into these areas!!!!

Thank You!!!

Somewhere in Brooklyn or Queens would probably suit. But what's your budget? Having dogs is going to make your apartment more expensive, so be prepared.

not sure my budget yet, cause i haven't found a job...yeah i know about the dog situation, i wouldn't be opposed to moving in with a roommate either if they don't mind the dogs

Budget is pretty much the number one determining factor when I think about what neighborhoods to recommend outside of Manhattan.
