Ok, I have searched the forum but can't find the exact info I'm after!

Are there any areas of the UWS to be avoided? I've heard that above 96th on the UES isn't so great but at what point on the UWS does it become less desirable? Also, is there a limit to how far west to go? (apart from ending up in the river!)

I will no doubt be working on the UES or UWS. Are there any other nice areas nearby to consider? Rent $2000 max but am fine with a studio.

Thanks!

Generally it's fine. And right by the river is VERY nice along Riverside Drive. I lived there for eight years and LOVED being by the river. It's very desirable both near the Park and by the river.

Its mostly good until you start going above Columbia but even lower than that can get a little bad in some spots. A few projects on Amsterdam around 102 that I'd stay away from but for projects they are not bad but walking home late night around them may not be the best idea. The only way to really know is to go to the block at night and see what its like. Better yet, go on a weekend night. Yorkville on the UES will be the cheapest of the two but a good walk to the subway to go downtown.
