See I've been to 157th and Broadway once...not further than that. I was told that that was Washington Heights/Harlem...and I can't say I was super thrilled about the area....is Spanish Harlem different?

Yeah its pretty mixed now and days. There's a growing White population and its not overwhelmingly Puerto-Rican anymore. But it's still not that safe IMO, unless you happen to live in one of those fancy condos.

You might want to try further up. Past the 190's and up into the 200's. Up in Inwood. It's quieter, slower-paced than Harlem/Wash Heights and a lot of young professionals are moving up there. Lots of White folks too.

Jackson Heights is nice too. I have been there quite a few times. I'm just looking for something a little different. Something that makes me get out of my comfort zone(in the sense that it's not the same 'ol)..but that is still safe

I would of tought you were Puerto Rican aswell. But if you dont want to get hit on the Bronx and the Heights are not for you. You could try Uptown past 207th.
Also I didn't know there were Dominicans in Spanish Harlem. I mostly tought Puerto Rican and Mexican.

There aren't many.
lol. I don't know if its changed but back in the day, Dominicans used to think the East side was too far. Speaking from my own experiences. Most of my family still thinks its too far.

Try Inwood. It's essentially the last affordable part of Manhattan and, while it's majority Dominican, it also has a good contingent of Jewish and other non-latino residents.

Yo supermario since your from BX how is it in bedford park??I know the cultural diversity is there which is always a + to me. "58 percent Hispanic, 17 percent white, 13 percent black and 7 percent Asian" a census says .Instead of queens im thinkin of either north bronx or brooklyn now...bedford park looks like a cool neighborhood but i wonder what the prices look like for a studio/one bedroom...

Bedford Park isn't too bad. In terms of safety, it is among the safest(Bronx standards). But there are blocks there which are bad. So it consist of good and bad blocks. A price for a one bedroom may be $1000 and up. The further you are from Bedford Park the more expensive it gets. This is for good reason as the area below Bedford Park is absolute filth. The diversity below Bedford Park is non existant as it is virtually Dominican, Puerto Rican and Black.
If you want I can post a crime map of the 52nd precinct so you can see where the crime occurs in that precinct.
But walk around. It isn't awful.
