Default Anyone from NY thinking of moving to Charleston, SC?

I'm just curious, I'm a former NYC person who now lives in Mount Pleasant, SC and I am always looking for fellow-NY'rs who are moving here, it seems there are so many! If I get enough interest, I'll have a NY/NJ night down here for all of us!

I thought about it but the jobs don't pay enough to afford the housing. It seems to me like a place people go to after they have already made a lot of money. It is a very nice looking town but to live in the nice part cost real money. It does have some seedy parts though.

Mount Pleasant is beautiful, very low crime, it's North Charleston that is sort of "seedy" - ....taxes are ridiculously cheap, my home is 1900 sq ft, built in 1997 and the taxes were $669 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR! It's amazing...you can find houses for as low as $250,000 on up.....very nice ones too! And, Mount Pleasant is only minutes to the beach and surrounded by great golf courses. There are a lot of engineering firms here, and military, and a lot of service industry (restaurants, realtors, construction, etc.)....but the pay cut is worth every penny for lifestyle choices, and - who needs the high taxes! I think that's why there are so many of us down here...not to mention the great weather (hot and sticky in July/Aug, but you get used to it)....let me know if there are any other questions!
