My husband and I are going to be looking for an apartment (large 2 bed or 3 bedrooms) in the Bayside/surrounding area soon. Are we better off with a broker, Craigslist, what?

Second, because I've been out of the country for 4 years and my husband is not American, our credit score isn't prime. Nothing bad on the record; just that lengthy inactivity depresses your score. Will any landlords be willing to work with us? Our UK landlord and letting agency are contactable and we are willing/able to pay a large deposit or advance rent.

TIA!

Hi...I was wondering if you ended up finding something good in the Bayside area? We too want to check out some good 1/2-BR apartments there and wanted some idea on where to start...

What's your budget? That will determine where you can afford to live.

Renting in Bayside can be more expensive than other neighborhoods, but not necessarily. Depends on the owners of the property, obviously.

Default Renting Apartments in Bayside

As a 50-year resident of Bayside, I can tell you that if you want the better quality apartments you should use an agent and be prepared to spend at least $1500 a month for a decent one bedroom apartment. Three bedrooms can cost as much as $2800 a month. The Bayside market is probably about 90-95% full and due to the proximity of the Long Island Railroad Station, is also very much in demand. If you choose not to use an agent you will still find apartments but not the better ones. Good luck!

^^^ my family has been renting 3 bedrooms in Bayside for years around 1700. south of 48th Ave, though, in 11364 zip code, that might make the difference, since it's farther from the LIRR station.

Budget isn't a problem. We're prepared to spend at least $2500, and that looks realistic from what I've seen.

We're in a somewhat odd position because we can afford to buy, but we won't get a good rate so want to wait a year.
