Just figured this thread needed to be created so I started it... Took a bunch of city test but I want to get on FDNY. So Lets discuss whats going on with list 6019. To date I think they have reached the 800's and sent packets out into the 1500's...

Probably not... FDNY physical is really tuff... My list number with them is in the 3900's and DSNY is 700's so I will aviously be called for DSNY first.... When I started taking all the city test I wanted FDNY real bad... That was a couple of years ago and about 20lbs ago..... My uncles and cousins are in DSNY and they told me if I leave DSNY I desereved to be smacked..... We'll see.... There both good jobs and I'd be proud of either one of them...

That is what I figured. Nobody leave DSNY for another job before they retire. I was 20 lbs lighter myself 2-3 years ago, lol. Getting older sucks, but we have no choice, lol.

i am a sanman who is on the fd list.. my list number is 2078 and i recieved the investigation packet to fill out.. DSNY is a great job, don't get me wrong i love it.. but i will leave it at the drop of a dime to become a firefighter..my suggestion would be to take dsny when they call and start training for fdny just like i did.. and then u can carry your time over at the end of your 20..obviously if your young enough to become a firefighter your most likely going to do the 25yrs.. so the earlier you start with the time, the better off you'll be.

Thanks for the post,
I have a lot to consider. I think being a sanman would be great. But you know there is just something about FDNY that drags you in. My thing is im 27 and I dont know if they will call me before im 29. Also, I had no intension of turning down DSNY. I just dont know if I will transfer. I started running my ass off just in case
Good luck with everything, Its not easy but if you really want it youll get it

You can get hired after your 29th birthday for FDNY. As long as you applied for the test before you turn 29 your good to go. Im also on the list and a city worker, and if i get my call with the FDNY im going. Time transfers only thing that doesnt transfer anymore is pay, which sucks.
