Question Trash problem in Park Slope?

We are thinking about moving back to NYC. We lived in Windsor Terrace near Park Slope a few years ago.

My question is - is Park Slope any cleaner?? This is likely to upset some folks - but when we lived there, the trash on the streets in Park Slope drove me CRAZY. I never understood it - I would never throw trash on the ground in a million years. Park Slope is a great place to live....but what's with all the trash?

We are coming back over this FAll to look for houses/apts - but just curious to know if it has improved.

thanks!

I never knew that Park Slope had a lot of trash. At least, when I go there it seems pretty normal for NYC. What part of the Slope are you referring to?

7th Avenue. The main area. It seemed that the store owners did not clean in front of their stores like they do in Manhattan. And the bins were always overflowing. Perhaps too many people, not enough trash pick-up?

It's loaded with trash. I saw some idiot women try to walk into a grocery store with her dog. Where do these people come from?

Ahhhh, 7th avenue. I rarely go there so that is why I don't see the trash problem. Loads of restaurants and stores over there so I see why there may be an issue. Probably not enough trash pick up for the amount of people who go there and patronize the shops, like you said.

the irony is that they got rid of the alternate side parking because people complained that there was never anywhere to park. now they got rid of it, people complained abiut the streets being dirty, so they put alternate side back. lol.

Without fail, there is always trash blowing around on 5th Avenue south of 9th Street. It seems a lot better just on the other side, though. 7th may be a little worse... but I haven't ever noticed that to be the case. I've only been here a little under a year so no good for tracking how it may have changed.

It's not just 5th and 7th Avenues. It's not so clean on the side streets either. I lived there years ago and visit from time to time, but the trash problem is still the same. It's amazing that people will pay 2M+ for a brownstone, and then let trash pile up in front of it.
