May be visiting this summer, and looking for a reasonably priced hotel. Id like to have a boutique hotel, and will be with a total 4-5 people. We aren't very classy so sleeping on the floor isn't out of the question. I don't know where to start, any recommendations?

If the flights are booked and the women are set to go, I'd look into Priceline or another bidding site (you can even try their "Express Deals" . . . I've been pretty lucky there). And the reviews of various hotels on those and other sites are very helpful to one's decision on where to stay. It's actually not that difficult to find what you're looking for if you know where to search.

Springtime is the prime tourist season for visiting Manhattan so hotel rates will be high. You might also consider a B&B or a room in an apartment. Check different dates to see what the rates will be. See links below.

Have you bothered to do a search of the forum? I think there have been multiple posts along these lines, and I'm pretty sure that I provided a link to an article on hotels at least once.
