I am moving from Seattle to New York City,I would like to know what is the best time/season to move.Since,I am a Private Investigator I would need my car to use for Surveillance. Most likely, thats the only time I will need it.

Also, where are the best places to buy furniture,I am bringing minimal with me and dont want to come into the city with a moving truck...lol.

Anyways,any advice will help me.

Why,yes of course I am driving all the way from Seattle!

Inventory in summer/fall is highest and typically when best stuff also comes onto market but is also priciest. Winter has low inventory and not the best stuff but price is lower. This applies to rental and sale.

As for your car, unless you use your car 3 out of 7 days. Probably cheaper to just rent it by hourly using zipcar or hertz on demand, if not just rental it on daily rates.

Because unless you are living in outer boroughs where parking is easy or cheap for parking lot...you are looking at anywhere from 250 to 450 a month to park your car and not to mention car insurance will be higher than what it is in Seattle. Oh and yes gas ain't cheap in NYC either.
