I mean Real Estate inspection. Allstate dropped us for homeowners insurance due to our living by water so now the new insurance company wants us to have a Wind Inpsection done on our house and it will cost $650.00. I don't think that is fair.In Florida they do it for FREE. I was asking if anyone knew of this type of inspection and how we can get it done cheaper.

I live on the top floor of a high-rise apartment building. I would also like to know what a wind inspection is, since there's usually so much of it whenever I open my windows!

We figured this whole thing out. We live in Queens and Allstate dropped us. they picked up someone on the same block, however.. so weird. Anyway a wind inspection is for the insurance company to insure that there will be minimal damage if a huge storm comes. So we had to fix a door to our crawl space for example, it was a tad loose. We got the inspection for 250.00 from another inspector.. go figure.. 650, 250 big difference. Someone is not honest here. Thanks for all of your inquiries and help. I believe this is for homeowners only not sure about apartment buildings.

Contact the New York State Department of Insurance or check their website and see if they may have some info for you.

Default Wind Certification

Lois, who did you use to do the wind inspection. I also received notice from NYPIUA that I have to have a wind inspection performed and a wind certificate obtained or they will cancel that aspect of my insurance.
