If your American, your life isn't influenced, but some of the products and services you use are. Such as the knife you use to cut bread. They control the cutlery trade.

Its the same thing. The Mob and Mafia is also La Cosa Nostra meaning this Thing of Ours. Different places in the US have their own names:

Chicago - The Syndicate/The Outfit.
New York - Each of the 5 Family names.
Buffalo - The Arm.
New England - The Office.

That was the Gambino's, including that of George DeCiccio. George was the brother of Frank, who was car bombed to hell.
