Okay, just trying to understand things clearly because some people on here seem like they just say an area is bad the second they see minorities. I tend to do it myself sometimes and I'm a minority. I'm trying to break that bad habit.

the "bad" neighborhoods on staten island are bad just because they are bad. the fact that they are populated by mostly minorities only adds to the stereotype. i'm black and i'm not afraid to go most places in the city, but i've been to park hill before at night and its not a place i want to frequent. honestly, the heavy gang presence (bloods) intimidated me more than anything else.

I guess I have a lot to learn about the area because I would have never thought there would be bloods or any other gangs in Staten Island. Is Park Hill worse, better, or about the same as Newark, Jersey City, Elizabeth, or Paterson?

Your quote on the bottom of your message is funny, that's from the Dead Plumber episode right?

my NJ knowledge is limited. I've never been to Newark, only been to Irvington once and Jersey City a few times, so I can't say for sure.

Its from the 2-part episode where he leaves Gina to join a cult.

and staten island has plenty of gangs, believe it or not. stapleton projects had a big drug gang that i believe the NYPD dismantled a few years back.

Staten Island does not have many projects as other boroughs do. There is only a handful.

the problem with the projects is the city. I support letting them be turned into co-ops or condos that area would benefit and price out the undesirables. Now, I am not usually for pricing people out of areas, staten island is expensive enough...but those areas can be better. This is a great borough and alot of good is happening. Its plain and simple don't like it - leave it, let others come in who care.
