Hi, I'm thinking of moving to New York. I'm originally from Bedstuy (lived there in the 90s), then moved to Austin, TX, now planning on moving back because my boyfriend has fanciful ideas about the City.

Anyone know anything about the area? Is it worth my time at all?

Thanks in advance!

If you lived in Bed-Stuy in the 90's, you can handle that area.

You should check it out firsthand. I feel like it might be kinda weird living around there because it's probably sorta transitional no man's land between (black) Harlem and Spanish Harlem. Might be convenient though... you're a couple blocks from Marcus Garvey park to the north, but a couple blocks from the Spanish stores, restaurants, bars on East 116th. Can easily get to stuff on 125th Street too. Pathmark. That Indian place on 3rd. Not too far from Lenox and the more upscale kinda spots poppin up around there.

Also, isn't that near where the old Puerto Rican "marqueta" (sp) was under the Metro North tracks? Not sure what the status of that is, it'd seen better days when I was around there last.
