Gotcha, SeventhFloor. I will let el luchador speak for himself, then.

I for one am interested in creating a more general site for all aspects of the Bronx (mostly about real estate and the development going on, but also about Bronx history, photos of different parts of the borough, schedule of events, cultural activities, photos, a forum or blog, etc.)

New to the board today b/c I am excited about "boogiedowner" blog idea. If you look just today at Brownstoner it has evolved well past discussion of upkeep of brownstones. "Condos of the Day" and "Restaurant of the Day" are both regular posts. With all the unique green space, restaurants, and real estate opportunities available in the Bronx, a blog similar to what Brownstoner has become (except hopefully a bit less smug) would be a wonderful resource.

Yes SeventhFloor, ILoveTheBronx.com is a great website. I would love to see something with a little bit more of a "grassroots" feel to it. And there is nothing wrong with several sites up and running at the same time. Who knows - several of us could each start a site (each with a different flair and pov). Wouldn't that be great for the Bronx!

Maybe I confused 7th floor when mentioning "Brownstoner." I didn't mean to imply that we would cover brownstones or even just real estate, but really try to shine a light on the great stuff in the Bronx, whether it be undervalued real estate, museums, places to eat, the great green space, whatever....When this thing is up and running, I'll post the link. Sorry about any confusion, and yes, the Art Deco building are beautiful. More to come....

We would have to think of a name for such a site...I think Boogiedown or something similar seems ...I dunno....how about TreeCity, GreenBronxMachine, Bronx2.0, iBronx, Bx2Bgreen, ThebigB, MyBronx, GreenME, Lifeonthe4-5-6, Uptown2download, TheBronxShoe (like the Bronx Zoo), Mainlander, JustBronx, XronB, 30stories, BronxHaven, GreenThump, JonasBroncks, BronxBuzZ, B-Me, TheStreets, Up2Bronx, CrossBronx, Parkster, MajorDiggin (play on Major Deegan and the greening), Bronx-lite, umm...thats all I can think of right now..suggestions?

I dunno..the whole Boogiedown thing..and then Boogiedowner sounds too much like we are copying Brownstoner...and that would be soooooo wack!

Haha, I thought of Mainlander too when trying to think of names. I just don't think that it sceams "Bronx" at all. I thought BoogieDowner was good because it holds some irony in that the point of the site will be to show how far the Bronx has come from it's "Boogie Down" reputation.

I don't mind something with Boogiedown in it, but I think the "downer" part has somewhat of a negative connotation.

Okay, looks like you two will have to duke this out. Whatever the name turns out to be - I will be happy to help, contribute, edit, whatever is needed. Just let me know.

Meanwhile, I am going to proceed with my own small, old fashioned and (since I am probably much older than you all) decidingly UN-hip website. I have had the domain name TheBronxRocks.com for a while and it might just be a good time to use it. I am not as much into the blogging scene as much as I am interested in providing photos, links and a historical perspective, so linking to what anyone else is doing will be great and value-added. Keep us all posted, guys (and gal!)
