I sw this one lady jump out the front passenger seat of a cab near the Flatiron Building, she rushes around, starts taking pictures, waits for (I presume) her husband and son to open the door and takes MORE pictures.
Sounds like Japanese tourists. Anyway, I think it's cool to see people who have a zest for life. Photos record your memories and it's nice to go back and look at them. I also think it can get silly because you also need to enjoy the moment.

I love Japanese tourists! I sat next to a group of them at a Yankee game and it was a blast. They were so excited by everything; giving me high fives, most fun I've ever had at a baseball game.

May have already been mentioned, but if you see people buying or carrying around 9.11 memorabilia you know they're a tourist.

Also, anyone that stops for people on the sidewalk peddling things or handing out stuff. I had a friend from upstate visit and he thought it was rude to walk past the people handing out flyers without saying something to them.

The Ground Zero mugging REALLY pisses me off. Note to all tourists that go there: Don't smile and pose for a picture with that mass-grave behind you. Its so disrespectful and offensive I want to cry even thinking about it. I live nearby and I have been tempted SEVERAL times to yell at people when I see them doing that.

Would you go down to the Lower Ninth Ward and grin for a photo in front of a dilapidated house that still hasn't been raized, 3 1/2 years later? Would you go to Auschwitz and grin like a fool for a photo in front of the gas chambers?

I mean, come on people! LOL.

It's also very wrong to photograph homeless people unless you get their permission.
