NooYowkur posted a link in another thread, but I thought that perhaps this story deserves its own thread. Most have probably already read about this.

Heartbroken dad opens up about crash that killed pregnant wife

A pregnant woman was pinned underneath a bus in a tragic traffic accident in the Fordham section of the Bronx. "Within seconds, more than two dozen strangers - from a nearby park, the busy sidewalk, and a construction site - poured into the street to aid Sanz."

"Twenty of us started lifting up the bus - about 10 more came to help,"..."We didn't really communicate. We all just started lifting. We lifted it up and someone pulled her out."

I found it inspiring that so many strangers came together to help, and thought their actions deserved a bit of attention, especially considering I've read so many negative generalizations regarding Fordham and it's residents on this site. The baby survived, but sadly, the mother died during surgery.

Those men and women who lifted the bus to try to save her are truly heroes and I hope they get all the recognition and public praise they deserve.

My heart goes out to the husband. May God take care of him. So very tragic...
