A friend of mine that lived on eastern Long Island and is now staying with me in the city as he looks for a new job. He was working in the city but living on the island, so he didn't pay NYC taxes last year. He more or less got fired and is unable for Unemployment. He applied for medicaid last month but was denied because he made money earlier in the year, they don't care what his income is now.
He has something funky going on with his ankle (it's all swolen and he can't move it) but has zero money nor wants any ER debt (he's stubburn).
Has anyone dealt with these clinics before? Are they free or cheap? Do they check income and bank accounts?
He can go to HHC listed hospital like Bellevue or Gouverner Hospital. The will charge him on a fee sliding scale. Also ge can sign up at those little booths or vans. They have healthcare based on your income and it's cheap. This also works on a fee sliding scale. Check NYC.gov and check the healthcare tab. In the meantime city hospitals will not and cannot turn him away if he hasn't the funds to pay.
i think he can sourly go to hhc listed hospital he will sourly charge hom fee.....
i think for him govt hospitals are the best.......
