Default Brooklyn

Ive been searching and it looks like Brooklyn is the cheapest borough besides Staten Island. Now the question is where is brooklyn. Ive researched alot but still am having some trouble. Bed-Sty looks cheap but im not sure if its worth having to deal with the crime. Is it that bad there? And Canarsie and Bushwick are also cheap. But again, they have crime rates less then desirable which is not a big deal for me but still, is it that bad? If so, are there any other places just as cheap?

Im looking to spend 1,100 a month or less. A little higher then that would be ok though but around that price range. Commuting is not much of a concern.

If price is the only issue, I'd say you probably have other options.

If where you live--your age, culture, wants, are also a condition, I might make other suggestions.

Your name implies "kid" so if that is true I'd be reluctant to suggest Canarsie as I think it is more a family type neighbourhood - or at least it was.

Bushwick, next to Williamsburg, is also a family centred community, and Bed-Sty is more of a mixed young and family neighbourhood. It's physical proximity to some of the gentrified areas is making it more and more appealing to some--but still affordable.

There are some affordable areas in Bushwick and Sunset Park that are with in decent range of Manhattan but not as pricey as Park Slope, Williamsburg and other hipster and yuppie havens.
