Sweetkiss, with all do respect. Some people have made comments on these threads like Chicago dont even exist. Chicago has a city population of 2.8 million. NYC's city population is 8.2 million. In some things it can hang, tourism is one of them. You said not even close? In terms of tourist, and considering how NYC is larger, I'd say a difference of around 2.8 million visitors or so is pretty close. Wouldn't you? Where you surprised that Chicago even draws over 40 million visitors a yr? Philly aint even in the top ten, what's up with that?

I was talking in terms of annual vistors SWEET KISS. Not people who admire the city from a distance. NYC does not recieve 400 million visitors a yr if that's what you think.

I love Chicago with all my heart, but the population is declining and crime is increasing at a rapid rate. =[

Population declining? They are starting to tear down 'projects' there. Alot of them people end up out in the suburbs with new public housing. Im sorry but Chicago is in no way shape or form a dying city. Not like my hometown of Pittsburgh, or Cleveland, or Buffalo. Some of that could be old people dying and less new births, baby boomers retiring to warmer climates, etc. The Northside (which is the nicest part of the city) is still booming. They've stuck billion upon billions in them neighborhoods. Chicago has always had a high crime rate. You every hear the story about the guys from NYC who decided to start Chicago?

Sorry buddy, the murder rate is up 18 percent, and I don't know where I found that statistic.. it was up here a while ago.. but the population is experiencing a negative growth of about 63,000. It's not dying yet, and I hope it never does, because I love going to the Museum Campus, looking at the skyline from there, the architecture, Millennium Park, etc.

The population decline from the yr 2000' to 2006', was a TOTAL of 23,000 people(wiki and one other site) was were I got my stats. The murder rate is up 18% from last yr, ya. But Chicago has always had a high murder rate. You've been there, you should know what I mean then, the city aint dying. Alot of baby boomers have been and are retiring now. Florida is way more appealing to them than Chicago. Take a look at wiki and hit Chicago. Read everything and the stats.
