Default Bronx supermarkets (east of Gr. Concourse)

When living in upper Manhattan, I was spoiled by "mega" supermarkets such as Stop & Shop (W. 234th & Broadway) and Pathmark (W. 207th Street & 10th Av). Now that I live in Norwood, I'm closest to Foodtown and C-Town...they're "OK" but don't seem to have much variety (and less spacious, I'm a bit claustrophobic).

Any recommendations for supermarkets?

Thanks...

The Food Emporium on Riverdale Ave and 258th street accessible to N'wood by the #10 bus; Garden Gourmet on Broadway and 233rd street (2 blocks from the 10 bus) has a HUGE selection

I've actually been to Garden Gourment and love it! Reminds me of Fairway...

I'm close to the #1/2 bus so...where do I change for #10...? I think Jerome & Bedford Park, correct...?

i'm not familiar with the 1 and 2 buses but you could take the 10 bus from Norwood to 231 street and Broadway and walk the 3 blocks or transfer to the 9 and take it to 234th street

You can change three times from the Bx1/2 to the Bx10;
1. Take the Bx1/2 to Bedford Park/GC and walk to Jerome for the Bx10
2. Bx1/2 to Dickinson/Sedgwick and wait for the Bx10 (most preferred)
3. Bx1/2 to Jerome/Mosholu and xfer to the Bx10.

The best is taking the Bx1/2 to Dickinson and xferring to the Bx10.

Gonna go on a field trip to Riverdale and check out Food Emporium

But I *really* checked out the C-Town on E. 204th. Not bad though the frozen food section can use some improvements.

While you're checking out the Food Emporium on Riverdale, be sure to stop by the deli a couple of doors down, especially if like good Jewish deli food. I am vegetarian, but the deli in the Skyview Center is known for good food and great sandwiches. The bakery in the complex is so-so, not nearly as good as other offerings in Riverdale, such as Mother's.

I always thought Liebman's deli on 235th street off Johnson is better than Skyview Deli--bigger portions, but the atmosphere in both is great!!

Yes, I agree totally. Liebman's is fantastic, but not too convenient to Skyview. Liebman's and Mother's on the same block, how could one go wrong??

and that cool Nono Tony's gourmet pizzeria that has similar shops in Morris Park(Brick Oven Pizza) and Throgs Neck(Patricia's)--is on 235th street. Odd to have similar places existing in Throgs neck and Morris Park also in Riverdale
