Just for fun-What part of NYC do celebrities live?

Last time I checked, Staten Island was full of MTV celebrities.

Speaking of NYC, MTV and "celebrities" (in quotes for a reason), this season of Real World is being filmed in Brooklyn. I believe the neighborhood is Red Hook.

And for those who prefer a little history...the collection of beautiful old houses on Ocean Avenue in the vicinity of Cortelyou Road in Brooklyn hark back to the original celebrities in this town...

It will probably come as a surprise to residents of southern California, but the movie industry was born in Brooklyn. Before there was any such thing as Hollywood, they were cranking out films at the Vitagraph Studios (Avenue M and East 14 Street)--you can still see the smokestack reading "Vitagraph" from the B and Q trains just above the Avenue M station. The movie stars made a little colony for themselves along Ocean Avenue.

Probably as fake as these past few seasons have been. RW stopped being real a long time ago. I've heard rumors that the locals aren't too thrilled about the cast filming in their neighborhood, and Gawker's been tracking them down:

Some people on other threads were like, "I live in the area, I'm going to stalk them" or "I'm a teacher, my students don't like RW and I'm going to make a field trip to torment them" or other nonsense. I guess not all locals subscribe to the "no one cares about celebs (and pseudo-celebs)" mentality.

That's happening in most of the city so I guess the poor guy's just going to have to go back to college.

I believe that Cyndi Lauper still lives in a VERY INEXPENSIVE rent-controlled apartment at the Apthorp Building (79th at Broadway), and Yoko Ono in the Dakota (72nd and CPW). Whether they qualify as "celebrities" or not, I'll leave to others to decide .....

Yoko Ono lives in the old apartment of one of my high school classmates. Both of my classmate's parents, one of whom was an internationally known film star, had died and Yoko actually called my classmate and told her that the ghosts of her parents had appeared to her to tell Yoko that they were glad that the Lennons were living in the apartment.

Yoko is all over the city and goes everywhere alone. I've seen her in the Financial District and my mother had a long discussion with her when she was in the D&D building shopping for fabric. My mother had no clue who she was.
