United for Peace & Justice*:*Know Your Rights: Demonstrating in New York City (http://www.unitedforpeace.org/article.php?id=905 - broken link)

If you want to use amplified sound on public property, want to have an event with more than 20 people in a New York City park, or wish to conduct a march in a public street, you will need a permit.

If you wish to have an event on the steps of City Hall or in the plaza in front of the steps, you need to make special arrangements with the Police Department.

Al Sharpton would know a lot about the process... those of us who recently got out CDL's can drive the buses to take people there. I should run this idea through Harry Nespoli first, maybe he would actually endorse it.

I don't see the point of demonstrating at city hall. DCAS has already extended the list to 2014 which is all they are obligated to do, they are not obligated to hire right now. I also highly doubt that Harry Nespoli would back such a plan.

I understand your frustration, but what would you hope to accomplish by a march on city hall? There's a recession out there, the fact that they extended the list is all we are going to get.

so guess we will make the OT and the charts this winter, even though we need the manpower and i need to move up in seniority !
but from what i hear the guys on the job now are messin things up for us now with the routes runnin so...things are gonna change for the worse !
im grateful i have my job but things are going downhill instead of up!

They said at the union meeting that if we run low on people for snow since forman have CDLs the Deputy Commish wants them to drive the plows and spreaders too. Get the accident reports ready! They want sant #s down to like 3500s... Lets hope for a big winter! Yeah those classes... well forget that... They rather pay the OT. Sorry guys. Always next year.
