They've put alot of work into them since the new management took it over. I've looked at some apts. in there, nicely renovated and definately some of the most affordable apts. in the 5 boros.
The 2 train sux though. I avoid it when ever I can, the Q and the B train rock!
It has to be a volatile situation with the transition from the old to the new. They've been pushing it on the transplants which may not work out so well considering most of them aint to Brooklyn Street saavy, but I guess thats what the security patrol is for.
Apartment complex living isn't for everyone.
I guess in Brooklyn, the B runs alright, cuz in Manhattan/BX people hate the B.
Full of ghetto hoodrats and probably mostly section 8 types. I work for sanitation and I am familiar with the area.
Seeing the neighborhood from a truck qualifies you as some kinda Flatbush expert. What route do you have? I'd like to see the "ghetto hood rats" and the "section 8 types"- do they wear a shirt that says I'm on Section8? What does a section 8 type look like?
i'm sure you've seen my posts regarding flatbush gardens. i cant even call it flatbush gardens, its still vanderveer to me.
Take heed to these words, It is still vandeveer to the people that live in and around it. I remember my cousins used to get chased out of this area by the V.I.P. (vandeveer international posse) back when they used to go to St. Jerome's Catholic school across the street. In addition to that, I've heard of many residents complaining of neglect and lack of maintenance. One thing I never understood was the new owners trying to compete with Stuyvesant Town and lure prospective residents away from there, that has many implications to me. Hmmmmm
i heard from someone that lives there, that people still walk around smoking marijuana in the hallways at all times of the day. she even told me 3 guys have gotten on the elevator with her and her four year old daughter who has asthma, smoking a potent grade. she said it looked a japanese sauna when they got off. each had a fat one puffing away with reckless abandon.
mod cut: not necessary, thanks.

Reason: Not necessary.
They recently had a rash of shootings and murders there. and as someone said the reviews are overwhelmingly negative! which is too bad because they are truly affordable, 850 for a studio w/
utilities paid? sad,b ut there has to be a catch right.
wasn't their a news article in the dailynews claiming that flatbush gardens was not living up to its new name given the fact that their was 2 homicides in like a 2 week period. honestly their are better parts of flatbush/east flatbush compared to flatbush gardens.
