A NY Memory:

My NY Memories bring a tear to my eyes and a throb in my heart. I remember as a lad of 15 my very first kiss and right here in NYC. It was a nice, balmy spring day in Central Park, the noonday sun was brilliantlly shining, the flowers were in full bloom, robins were singing a lovely tune while flapping their tiny wings up above, the grass was pure, rich, of a verdant color. All was beautiful and the mood was right.

I held her hands, embraced her, and gently kissed her on the cheeks as she mumbled unintelligible but sweet nothings back to me.

Yes, I'll always remember our first kiss - and that chihuahua continues to be adorable.

Mine are from Brooklyn. I remember the big checkered cabs - there was even a taxi stand around the corner from our house. Carving a skully board in the hot tar in the street. I don't think anyone does that anymore and kids certainly aren't lying face down in the middle of the street playing! Anyone remember Cookie's Steak Pub? The knish guy from Brighton Beach - yelling "ay the hot potato knishes, ice cold cokes here". Cops in leather jackets.

I've seen Alexanders mentioned, but what about Orbach's? And Martin's Dept. Store (my father worked there when I was very little).

i played skully in queens, a soda bottle cap with melted crayon in it. check out streetgames, type it in on google, its a site that has all the old nyc games we played. Seems like kids from the 1960' s were the last generation to play all day outdoors, in ny.

Remember the rides? We had a ferris wheel, the whip and the half moon. Cost a quarter.
